Where the rubber meets the road

September 28, 2010

Many people know that Trenton was a center for the manufacturing of a wide range of ceramic based products as well as the location of the world famous John A Roebling and Sons wire rope works.  Fewer seem to be aware that Trenton was also a leading provider of rubber products.

Here’s an image of the Empire Tire Factory (North Clinton Avenue at Nottingham Way) that bears witness to Trenton’s position as a rubber manufacturing center.

Thanks to Dennis McGrath for finding and posting a link to an eBay auction on this postcard.
