After trying unsuccessfully to find Colonel Rall on the morning of December 23, Dr. William Bryant returned to his home on the Bloomsbury estate (the building we know as the William Trent House).  Returning later in the day, Bryant located the Colonel and related that the rebels were drawing several days rations and were about to attack Trenton.

“This is all idle! It is old woman’s talk,” responded Rall.
